About Library

Shri Nagpur Gujarati Mandal’s VMV Commerce, JMT Arts and JJP Science College Library was established in 1969. The first librarian of the college was Shri Waranashiwar. He   rendered his services till April 1973. The second librarian of the college Dr. B P Jain rendered his services till June 2011. Presently Mrs. J. S. Moon is working as Librarian in this college. 

 The college Library is situated on the first floor of new building. Separate reading room with 100 readers sitting capacity is provided for readers. junior and senior college students, P.G. and PhD students as well as all college staff are users of this library; as a social responsibility library that serves our ex-students, Gujarati community and an old age home too. 

 Library is “OPEN ACCESS” to the users; it’s fully bar-coded. Issue return is done with barcode readers.  Web-OPAC facility is available for all users it’s on “open source” platform so anyone can use this from anywhere. OPAC can be used through QR code too. QR codes are provided to all Departments to use OPAC.  

Library has “Single Card” system means students can issue /return books through their I-card; no need to prepare a separate library card.

Online DDC classification system is used to classify library books. Books are arranged subject wise. All PC’s in library are connected with Internet. Library is using Synchronic’s “Soft-Lib” Library Management Software (LMS). For safety, Library is equipped with CCTV cameras and Fire extinguishers. Since 2010 Library has started to scan and convert all bills of book purchasing in PDF format. These are kept chronologically according to financial year.

Library has INFLIBNET’s N-List Scheme through which students and faculties can access 195827+ eBooks and 6293+ e-Journals. Library has good collection of print and electronic magazine and journal. 

We also subscribed to the DELNET database; which encompasses e-books, full-text e-journals, Language Learning Portal, Manuscripts, Rare books, Autobiographies & Biographies. E-newspapers, patents, Hobbies, Dictionaries, Sanskrit E-Resources, Vision Portal for Video Lectures. Global full-text Theses, and Dissertations.

Working Hours of the Library:

Library is open for students & staff from 8.30 AM to 4.30 PM.

Extended Reading room time is 7 to 4.30 PM
